Weather: Mild tropical climate is what the Keys are all about. Key West is the only city in the continental United States below the frost line. It never freezes down here.

The temperature swing is only about 14 degrees from summer to winter. Rainfall in winter is usually less than 2 inches per month-summer 4 to 5 inches. The good news is it doesn't rain all day, only briefly (tropical showers)  and even when it does,  it's still warm out.   Check out today's Weather

Boating: Boating is incredible in the Keys, offering either out front (Ocean) or the Gulf as destinations. When it's windy out front, usually it's flat in the Gulf.  See below for link to Boating

Diving and Snorkeling: The Florida Keys are the most visited dive destination in the world. Our reef system is the third largest in the world. Since water temperatures range from the low 70's in winter to 90's in the summer, the water  is usable year round. Check out the Keys Diving information.

Fishing: The good news is there are fish to catch year round both out front (Ocean) and in the Gulf or flats. These are two completely different types of fishing experiences, Backcountry or Ocean. If you like fishing you'll love it here. Check out Fishing the flats this is a great site that gives you lots of information about the fish here, where to get them and when!

The People: Most everyone has relocated here from somewhere else, meaning they  decided to be here because of all the above reasons. So the water seems to bind everyone together, kind of like a Ski lodge where everyone is into that weather and sport. I personally find the neighborhoods friendlier than traditional suburbia.

Key West: A great town to visit, eat dinner, listen to music, watch sunsets. It's a magical town that really is unique. There's a reason two to three or more cruise ships a day come there. In the Lower Keys you're only 10 to 40 minutes away from Key West Check out more about Key West.

Employment: Looking for a job? Key West has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country. Most employers are looking for someone who lives locally, is reliable and will show up.To look for jobs in the classifieds go to www.keysnews.com and www.keysjobs.com.
